Bartlett/Wheaton West ends Bolts season
The Bolts journeyed to the Edge in Bensenville for their Blackhawk Cup Round-of-16 game against the #3-seeded Wild Hawks of Bartlett/Wheaton West. The winner advances to the quarter-finals against BGHW. This would be the fourth meeting of the year between the two teams. The teams split two-goal wins in January (5-3 Bolts on 1/9 followed by 6-4 Hawks on 1/22) and had a 3-3 tie in December. The Hawks had defeated the Lincoln-Way/Lockport Rage to advance to the play the Bolts.
As it is the playoffs, you “throw out the record book” as the three prior games mean nothing. The Hawks stunned the Bolts and the Bolts faithful by scoring :12 into the game, putting the Bolts back on their heels. The Hawks scored two more in the 1st, outshooting the Bolts 16-8 in the frame. They turned up the pressure in the 2nd, tallying 3 more and holding the Bolts to ZERO shots in the 2nd, shots 16-0. In the third, the Hawks outshot the Bolts 11-4 and added an insurance goal to make the final 7-0. The Hawks put a rude ending to the Bolts season and advance to the Varsity Combined quarter-finals.
Patrick Boroian named to All-State Team!!
The Bolts are VERY proud to announce that senior Captain Patrick Boroian was named to the AHAI Boys HS All-State team! Patrick started the game at center for the AHAI "Red" team and notched an assist while the Red & White teams skated to a 5-5 tie.
